Central Senior School/Leslie Frost Public School Program Review

A review of the grade distribution of French Immersion students between Central Senior School and Leslie Frost Public School is taking place.

In Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) schools, we aim to provide our students with the best possible educational experience. This review will help us ensure we are meeting the needs of all learners with high-quality educational programming, student achievement and well-being.

Update: At the October 22 Trillium Lakelands District School Board Public Meeting of the Board, trustees approved the reconfiguration of the FI grades at the two City of Kawartha Lakes schools that offer the FI programming. Effective September 2025, the FI program for Grades 1 to 3 will remain at LFPS, and CSS will welcome Grades 4 to 8.

The questions and/or concerns that were raised at the community consultation, as well as submitted through the feedback form, have all been reviewed. The following areas are being addressed at CSS:

  • Availability of green space and a play structure
  • Ensure the accessibility needs of all students are met
  • Student safety as it relates to the close proximity of the high school and a busy street
  • Parking availability
  • Staffing and resources

Transportation will continue to be provided to and from school for eligible students whose home address is outside the designated walking zone for each school.

The Board is at the beginning stages of this review which includes a consultation meeting with our families and community members.

Following the meeting, options will be taken to the Board of Trustees at the October Regular Meeting of the Board.

Families will then be made aware of the outcome of the review and if there is a change to the grade distribution, it will take effect September 2025.
