Trustees are members of Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB). They are your locally elected representatives and are your community’s advocate for public education. Trustees are required to carry out their responsibilities in a manner that assists the Board in fulfilling its duties under the Education Act. Trustees primary responsibilities include establishing and supporting good governance for the school board.
While in office, trustees balance varied responsibilities including holding the chief executive officer/chief education officer accountable to the Board’s strategic directions, establishing board policies and providing input regarding the board budget and allocation of resources.
Your school trustee is a member of a team. Only the team (the Board of Trustees), not the individual trustee, has the authority to make decisions or take any action. The school board must place all students first when making any decision.
