What happens if there is a COVID-19 case at your child’s school?

If there is a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 at a Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) school, the local public health unit will notify the school and advise on any additional steps. The local public health unit will then conduct an investigation for contact tracing, and communicate with any individuals considered close or high risk contacts and provide them with next steps/direction that they must follow.

The school community will be informed when there is a confirmed case of COVID-19. This information letter is developed in consultation with the local public health unit. Parents/guardians with any questions or concerns can contact their local public health unit at:

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit at 1-877-721-7520

Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit at 1-866-888-4577 ext 5020

If a student is not identified by the health unit as a close contact of a person who tested positive for COVID-19, there will be no further communication from the school and students may attend school as usual.

The school board will not share any personal information about any staff or student who is ill but will update the TLDSB COVID-19 Advisory School Status Board to provide the number of active confirmed positive COVID-19 cases associated with TLDSB schools.

Thank you for continuing to do your part in preventing the spread of COVID-19 at school and in our communities.
