V.K. Greer Memorial Public School students perform at Canada’s Wonderland’s Festival of Music

On June 8, the V.K. Greer Memorial Public School (VKPS) concert band was invited to perform, along with surrounding schools from across Ontario, at Canada’s Wonderland’s Festival of Music!

The Festival is a celebration of music, inviting school bands, orchestras, and choral students to perform on site at the park. The VKPS concert band, which is made up of Grade 7 and 8 students, performed two pieces for an adjudicator, receiving great feedback for improvements and a participation plaque for their dedication to bring back to school. As a reward for their diligence throughout the school year, the students get to spend the day enjoying the park.

“Music and the arts are an integral part of a well rounded education,” said VKPS principal, Trudi MacKinnon.  “Opportunities such as this one help show students the positive of participation.” said VKPS principal, Trudi MacKinnon.

For the last five years, VKPS students have looked forward to attending and performing at the Festival of Music. This will be the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic that this year’s Grade 7 and 8 concert band will be performing outside of the school.
