Media release: TLDSB launches School Climate Survey

LINDSAY, ON – Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) has announced the launch of the School Climate Survey to begin on May 2 and close on May 13.

“With the Children’s Mental Health Week taking place this week, TLDSB is excited to launch the School Climate Survey,” said TLDSB Director of Education, Wes Hahn. “We are hoping all Grade 4 to 12 students, staff, and parents/guardians complete the survey, as the information collected will help TLDSB gain a deeper understanding and knowledge about our school climate.”

There will be three surveys in total that will collect information about how our school communities are feeling about student engagement, mental health, school safety, and inclusivity. Students in Grades 4 to 12 will have the opportunity to complete the survey online in class. Parents/guardians and staff will receive a unique link to their email to access their school’s survey.

“It is important to note that the surveys are voluntary and anonymous,” said Superintendent of Learning, Paul Goldring. “We want to hear about the school culture and it’s the people within each school that know this best. This information indicates how our school communities are doing so that necessary changes to improve the learning environment can be made.”

The completion of a climate survey by school boards every two years is mandated by the Ministry of Education. The last Climate Survey in TLDSB was administered in 2017 and is normally conducted every two years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the survey was put on hold and TLDSB is pleased to be conducting it again this school year.
