TLDSB Indigenous online summer programs
Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) is excited to announce an opportunity for Indigenous students this summer! We will be running a number of FREE learning programs designed for students of all ages who self-identify as Indigenous.
Co-created with Wahta Mohawks, these experiences are designed to provide participants with the tools and methods to explore big ideas, immerse themselves in culturally responsive processes while fueling personal interests.
STEM for K-3 | July 19-23| 9 – 11:30 a.m.
Students will delve into STEM based experiences that build skills and set the foundation for a passion in problem solving. Receiving daily challenges that require participants to create, build and test out different ideas, these hands-on activities are designed to connect students to the natural world while they explore and understand cultural teachings such as the importance, interconnectedness and inspiration of Mother Earth in all areas of life.
Leadership for Grade 4-8 | July 19-23| 12:30 – 3 p.m.
Students will have an opportunity to understand and analyze their own leadership style while identifying opportunities to deepen their skillset. Students will develop an action plan to pursue individual leadership goals while empowering others in their community to share their voice and have a meaningful impact. Leveraging cultural knowledge, students will engage in opportunities to share their own learning and create a community of leaders.
Leadership for Grade 9-12 | August 9-13| 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Learn how leadership is developed, deepened and executed in various situations and through different styles. Students will design opportunities to take authentic action in their community and help to inspire others to also get involved. Developing an understanding of both traditional and current practices, students will make meaningful connections to culture to understand, action and empower others.
