TLDSB hosts Fall in love with your GSA Conference

On November 15, the Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) *Positive Space Committee hosted a Fall in love with your GSA Conference at the Haliburton County Education Centre.

The day-long initiative invited Grade 7 to 12 students from across the Board and their Gender-Sexuality Alliance (GSA) leader(s) to the collaborative event to share and discover new ideas and supports to launch or sustain a successful GSA.

In the morning, attendees had the opportunity to hear from keynote speaker and Trent University assistant professor and faculty advisor, Rachael Nicholls. In the afternoon attendees participated in two workshops, organized by Trent University Ph.D. student specializing in education, gender, and social justice, Lisa Trefzger Clarke, and Trent University teacher and nine-time Aurora Award winner for fantasy and science fiction, Derek Newman-Stille.

They are a group of people who promote positive space as one of many opportunities for system learning under the umbrella of Ontario’s Equity and Inclusive Education strategy. December 12 inclement weather day – City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton, and Muskoka

Due to inclement weather with heavy snow fall, poor visibility, and road conditions, transportation to schools is not operating in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton, and Muskoka today, Thursday, December 12. Schools remain open and learning opportunities will continue for students who are able to safely attend in-person.

Parents/guardians are responsible for transportation of their student(s) to and from school on inclement weather days. Drop-off and pick-up must occur in alignment with the regular school day start and end times.
