Muskoka Falls Public School students collect food and clothing donations for local community

A group of Grade 7 students at Muskoka Falls Public School (MFPS) spearheaded a food and clothing drive called Culture Care of Kindness, to give back to their local community.

Throughout the month of December, the group travelled around to each classroom in the school and presented a slideshow, showcasing the initiative and answering any questions. From there, students donated clothing and canned/dried food for seven days.

In total, over 350 lbs of donations were collected and will be donated to the Manna Food Bank and Interval House.

“We learned there are a lot more people in need then we originally thought and that it’s important to do things like this to help out and make sure people have what they need,” said MFPS Grade 7 student, Lexi Turner. “We also learned that communication with the organizations we are giving to is important.”

Way to go, team!
