Mental health summer workshops

Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) Mental Health Services is excited to offer a variety of summer workshops to students, staff, parents/guardians, and community members. See the information below for more details:

Emotion Coaching

Workshop #1: Monday, August 21, at 6 p.m. – CANCELLED
Workshop #2: Tuesday, August 22, at 10 a.m. – CANCELLED

Participants will learn about emotion coaching – a strategy that can calm the brain in as little as 60 seconds and help improve relationships between parents/caregivers and their families.

Smart Start…Meet Your People

For students entering high school, this opportunity will create a space for students to explore their feelings on the return to school, identify and practice strategies to cope with intense feelings, and routines to help prepare for the return to school. Participants will also learn about pathways for support within each school and their local community.

Workshop #1: Tuesday, August 22, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Huntsville High School

Workshop #2: Wednesday, August 23, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School

Workshop #3: Thursday, August 24, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Gravenhurst High School

Workshops will be facilitated by TLDSB, Family Connexions, and MHAN program staff. Food will be provided.

For parents/guardians, staff, and community members. Participants will learn about suicide awareness, how to engage someone, and ways to connect with intervention resources for further support.

Workshop #1: Wednesday, August 23, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Haliburton County Youth Wellness Hub – 12 Dysart Avenue, Haliburton

Workshop #2: Tuesday, August 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Community Living Kawartha Lakes – Suit 200, 205 McLaughlin Road, Lindsay

Back to School Panel

When: Monday, August 28, at 7 p.m. – CANCELLED

Audience members will have an opportunity to ask a panel of high school administrators and teachers questions related to their child transitioning to high school.
