If you have once admired the original Canadian artwork on display at the Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute (LCVI), seven of those pieces are now in a more public place for all to enjoy.
The school’s principal recently finalized a long-term loan agreement with the Kawartha Art Gallery in Lindsay to have the artwork displayed in the gallery for the community to admire.
The following seven pieces can now be appreciated at the gallery:
- Alfred Joseph Casson of the Group of Seven, “Rain in the Cloche Hills”
- Alfred Joseph Casson of the Group of Seven, “Mukeg East of Bird’s Creek”
- William Arthur Winter, “Pink Fences”
- Sir Edmund Wyly Grier, “J.C. Harstone, Portrait of the First Principal of LCVI”
- George Agnew Reid, “The Pasture Stream”
- George Agnew Reid, “The Community”
- Florence Wyle, “Penelope”
On November 10, Trillium Lakelands District School Board director of education, Wes Hahn, Chair of the Board, Bruce Reain, superintendent of learning, Jennifer Johnston, and LCVI principal, Mark Cossarin, all visited the gallery to see the display.
