IEWSS cross country team placed third at OFSAA

On November 4, the I.E. Weldon Secondary School (IEWSS) Junior Girls Cross Country Team travelled to Centennial Park in Etobicoke to compete at Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA).

The team is made up of six members, including Mary Dafoe, Michelle De Vos, Kyla Farr, Ellianne McLaren, Addison Smith, and Lucy Stephenson.

The team qualified for OFSAA after placing first at Central Ontario Secondary Schools Association (COSSA) on October 25 at Dunnett Orchards in Brighton, with Farr placing first, Stephenson placing second, and McLaren placing third! Farr also placed first at COSSA last year and holds the course record at Dunnett Orchards for Grade 9 girls.

Overall, the team placed third in the Junior Girls Division and Farr placed thirteenth individually at OFSAA.

“The entire team had a fantastic season. There was a lot of improvement that occurred due to hard work,” said IEWSS cross country coach, Rhonda Dobson.

The team will now compete in track and field events in the spring.
