Haliburton Highlands Secondary School hosts job fair

On May 8, Haliburton Highlands Secondary School (HHSS) hosted a job fair as an opportunity for students to connect with local employers about current and future job endeavors.

The event was organized by the Haliburton County Home Builders’ Association (HCHBA) and saw 28 businesses in sectors including carpentry, community living, construction, education, emergency services (fire, police, paramedics), hospitality, landscaping, nursing, and more!

Fleming College was also present to assist students in building a resume and filling out applications.

“This is a great opportunity for the HHSS staff and students to meet the community,” said HCHBA executive officer, Aggie Tose. “Our hope is that the students will make connections at the job fair, which will take them out into the community. We hope that we can take some of the nervousness and anxiety out of students by meeting them on ‘their turf,’ so to speak. We want them to also see that Haliburton County has opportunities that they may not have known about.”
