LCVI entrepreneurs win first and second at the Pitch ‘n Win Competition

On November 22, three Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute (LCVI) students showed off their entrepreneurial spirit at the annual Pitch ’n Win Competition held by Fleming College and Enactus.

Throughout the month of October, students were invited to submit a business idea for a chance to win cash prizes and receive feedback from experts in the community.

On November 15, 12 of the submissions were invited to attend a workshop led by Fleming College instructors. Following the workshop, three LCVI students were among the five chosen to attend the competition finals held at the college’s Peterborough campus the following week. Each finalist was allowed five minutes to pitch their idea to a panel of judges from the local investment community.

Emma Howard placed first with her business, Kiikew Wellness, and Ollie Ferguson placed second with his business, Donut Designs.

“Being able to participate in the Enactus Fleming College Pitch ’n Win competition was incredible, and I’m so grateful,” said Howard. “I’ve learned a lot of useful skills. Understanding the proper and most persuasive way to pitch an idea is applicable in so many fields, and I’ve taken a lot away from the experience.”
