Fenelon Township Public School receives donation to support new playground equipment

Cheque presentationOn March 2, staff from Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) were joined by City of Kawartha Lakes Mayor Letham and Councillor Doug Elmslie to be presented with a cheque to support the build of new playground equipment at Fenelon Township Public School (FTPS).

The generous donation of $20,000 was received from Mr. Rehmatullah of FLATO Developments Inc.

The fundraising initiative for the equipment started at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year and was organized by the school’s Parent Council, who recognized the need to support the Kindergarten/Grade 1 yard, as well as the growing community population.

“When I received the call about three weeks ago to let us know we would be receiving a donation, I was quite shocked. I was amazed and thankful that a company like FLATO is able to help. The students in our school will be able to play on this structure for years to come,” said FTPS principal, Greg Arkwright. “I have heard Mr. Rehmatullah state many times that his company builds communities, not homes. He is definitely doing that in our school community.  The staff and children of FTPS are so grateful that FLATO has helped us build our community!”

The school, along with the support from Parent Council, has been hosting various other fundraising initiatives throughout the school year to raise money. The FTPS community looks forward to new playground equipment in the future.
