On October 24, Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) teaching staff, educational assistants (EA), and early childhood educators from all schools across the Board will be participating in professional development focusing on tackling racism through the lens of curriculum and data. Below is the format that will be taking place throughout the day for each group:

Description: School staff will participate in professional learning opportunities that will focus on tackling racism, utilizing the Dreams Delayed Document, The Right to Read Executive Summary, and School Mental Health Ontario resources. Educators will have an opportunity to explore these resources related to anti-racism, anti-discrimination, and the promotion of inclusion, with the importance of creating supportive classrooms free of discrimination in any form, while ensuring educators have the knowledge to promote and uphold requirements under the Human Rights Code.
Further learning will include an introduction to the resource, Spring Math, for our elementary and secondary Math Priority Schools, data entry of the Early Reading Screener results, and school improvement planning time utilizing data sources, including TLDSB student achievement disproportionality index data.
