Letter to families: rescheduled PA Day

Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) has decided to make a change to the 2023-2024 school year calendar, reflecting that the scheduled Professional Activity (PA) Day will be moved from Friday, March 1, to Monday, April 8, for both elementary and secondary schools.

The reason behind this move is to support student and staff safety. A solar eclipse is anticipated to take place across the Board on April 8, with the peak of the eclipse occurring during school dismissal time when individuals are more likely to be outdoors. For more information on the solar eclipse, see the Government of Canada’s website.

Please note that this change does not add another PA Day to the school year, it is only a switch in the date – March 1 will become a regular school day, and the PA Day will be moved to April 8. Staff will attend their worksite on April 8 to engage in professional development opportunities.

While we recognize the inconvenience this rescheduling may cause, TLDSB is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our students and staff.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. If you have any questions, contact your child’s school.

TLDSB school/education centre closure – March 11, 2026

Due to the current and ongoing freezing rain, TLDSB has made the decision to close all schools, education centres, and child care centres in schools today, Wednesday, March 11.

Note: the Virtual Learning Centre remains open to students.

This decision was made with the safety of our students and staff as the top priority.

Please note, schools will not be moving to online learning.

We know this is an unusual circumstance and we appreciate parents/guardians for their understanding during this time.
