Scott Young Public School students baking to support the new Animal Care Centre in Peterborough

On May 19, a group of Grade 7 students from Scott Young Public School (SYPS) presented a cheque to the Peterborough Humane Society to support animals who are abandoned, in need of immediate care, or to be temporarily rehomed.

The students came up with a plan of action to raise the funds through a bake sale, with the goal of helping animals get the care they needed, on the way to finding their “furever” home!

The generous donation of $902.05 was received by the Peterborough Humane Society Executive Director, Shawn Morey. Morey thanked the group of students and spoke about how it will support the 136 animals currently in their care. The donation will go towards the new Animal Care Centre, medications, vet bills, and enrichment for the animals.
