Media Release: TLDSB launches Feed All Four Fund to support families in need

Feed All Four Fund logoLINDSAY, ON –  Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) has launched the Feed All Four Fund as an opportunity for staff to support student well-being and families in need.

Over the past several months, we have heard that many of our TLDSB families are suffering because of the COVID-19 pandemic. For some, there has been little economic impact. But for others, there have been job losses and additional stresses that make providing for families a challenge.

The Feed All Four Fund is an educational community fund that will help support the needs within our schools.

“The pandemic and the consequential fall-out does not appear to be ending anytime soon,” explained Director of Education Wes Hahn. “This fund is TLDSB’s way of helping alleviate some of the burdens that COVID-19 has caused our families by tying it into our Feed All Four philosophy.”

Feed All Four was developed in TLDSB out of an ongoing need to align teaching and learning with safe and accepting schools, mental health, healthy active living, and student well-being. The concept is based upon Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and the First Nations medicine wheel. Research indicates that supporting the body, mind, spirit, and emotions of an individual increases a sense of well-being, connectedness and resilience, and improves student achievement. The body, mind, spirit, and emotions of an individual need to be fed consistently in order to optimize achievement and well-being.
