Local donation helps Lady Mackenzie Public School enhance their sensory room

On September 23, Lady Mackenzie Public School (LMPS) received a donation of $1,500 from the Kawartha Lakes Civitan, Coboconk Chapter, to go towards the school’s sensory room redesign.

Sensory rooms are an area in a school that provides a break for some students with special needs who are overwhelmed by the stimulus in a classroom and/or school setting.

Over the past couple of years, the club’s donations have been put towards children attending summer camps. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were unable to do this, so they decided to think out of the box and reached out to LMPS to see how they could support children in schools.

With the generous donation from the Civitan group, LMPS has made a significant dent in the purchase of items for their sensory room.
