LCVI construction class make coat racks for kindergarten students

On November 17, students in the Grade 10 Construction Technology class at Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute began work on a new project – building coat racks for Alexandra Public School (APS).

When Construction Technology Teacher Joseph Tamlin heard that Kindergarten students at APS were learning in the school’s gymnasium due to Covid-19, and had nowhere to hang their winter clothing, he challenged his class to make enough coat racks for each student to have their own.

Using recycled lumber from last year’s projects, the Grade 10 students used a variety of tools, including table and mitre saws to build the racks, which were delivered to APS on November 18.
