End of year message from the Director of Education

Dear TLDSB students and families,

Most of us would agree that navigating the pandemic has been one of the biggest challenges our society has faced in recent years. We recognize that the impact the pandemic has made affected every individual and family in different ways, however we appreciate that, as a collective, we have all worked together to continue on a path toward a better future. Our communities should be proud of themselves for the resilience, dedication, and strength they have demonstrated during these challenging times.

On behalf of our trustees and senior team, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to our Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) parents, guardians, and community members who were instrumental in keeping our students’ well-being a top priority over the past year. Our youth have experienced challenges that previous generations have not had to face, and they were able to endure all of this because of the support from their families. You have remained positive, supportive, and collaborative in order to ensure that our students had the best year possible despite the circumstances.

We would also like to say a big thank you to our TLDSB students. You adapted to ever-changing circumstances, continued to engage in learning, and put forth your personal best efforts this year. Throughout the pandemic you learned skills such as resiliency and flexibility, and these are skills that you will use for the rest of your lives. You should be proud of your accomplishments over the past year and celebrate both the big and the small successes as every one of them was hard-earned.

Throughout this year, TLDSB staff were committed to continuing our focus on student achievement, student and staff well-being, equity and inclusion, and to keeping our schools clean, safe, and healthy. We are proud of our staff for providing excellence in education and are grateful for the partnership of students, families, and the greater community in helping to make TLDSB a positive place to learn and grow.

We look forward to the new school year and the possibilities it brings. We can’t wait to see our TLDSB students, staff, and families again in September after what I hope is a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer break.
