| William Davis | 1961 | I attended HHSS FOR ONLY 1 1/2 and did not graduate as I went to work at general motors in Oshawa. After 10 years in the Motors my desire to return to my native Haliburton overwhelmed me and I returned and worked in real estate and them went to work with the Haliburton Ambulance service and then on to the Ministry of Health (ambulance services branch) which I still work at. In 1985 I ran for municipal politics in Dysart et al and became the Deputy Reeve a position I still hold and this year I became the Warden of Haliburton county as I sit at both levels of municipal government. I am married to Freda nee (Dugan) and have 3 children whom all attended HHSS. I am looking forward to renewing old friendships and meeting new people that had the privilege of graduating from HHSS. |
| Kellie (Bird) Churko | 1989 | First off, I would like to congratulate the committee who organized this 50 year reunion. Being Valedictorian my graduating year, I had promised to hold a 10 year reunion for our class. I kept my promise and with a lot of help from Shannon Robinson (nee Curry), we pulled it off. It was TONS of work tracking everyone down and had approximately 50% show up. A decent turn out I suppose, but of course we'd of loved to see more. What I'm getting at here is you deserve a lot of credit to undertake such a task . . . and for a whole weekend to boot!! I wish you the best of luck for a great turnout . . . but most of all, for a blast of a party. As you can see I'm now a "Churko", and "no, I did not marry Jim!" I married Jim's oldest brother Steve in 1995. Now Jimmy and I are related!!! Steve started an electrical business here in Haliburton in April '95 when he moved here from Toronto before our wedding. I am still working at the Haliburton Hospital, now known as the Haliburton Highlands Health Services Corporation. I hold the position of Director of Health Information and Chief Privacy Officer. I'll probably be here till the end. It's not a bad place to be though. Now, on to my greatest accomplishment, my family. Steve and I have 2 beautiful children together, Logan - 6 and Rachel - 5. They are our life. We've been very fortunate to be able to remain in Haliburton with all our friends and family around us. Stable, decent employment is something we've both been blessed with (as there isn't a lot of it here) that allows us to raise our children here and live a life that suits us. We are living in Eagle Lake so both of the kids are now skiing as we're close to Sir Sams. We also like to fish, camp and spend time outdoors. This is why we live in the beautiful Haliburton Highlands, isn't it? So again, good luck with the reunion. Maybe I'll see you there. |
